HOT ROD
The HOT ROD is a picatinny rail extension that keeps the same height over bore as your actual rail. The HOT ROD is designed to create more room on a picatinny rail for the most optimal grip position for your support hand. The HOT ROD (Rail Optimizing Device) is specifically meant to mount a laser aiming device on, and must be used in conjunction with a suppressor, because of where it positions the laser over the muzzle device.
The HOT ROD is made from TITANIUM. Not only does the titanium make the HOT ROD incredibly strong, it is also very resistant to heat transfer, and despite being directly over the suppressor, it stays incredibly cool compared to the handguard or other parts of the upper. The HOT ROD features 2 different three hole patterns to mount the HOT ROD to the rail. This was done so that it fits a wide variety of rail designs. It also has the ability to mount the Unity Tactical Axon pressure switch on top, and comes with hardware needed to do this.
The bottom of the pic rail portion of the HOT ROD is carved out in order to fit larger diameter suppressors on the market- (up to 1.75" suppressors on a standard height rail such as BCM) It can fit larger suppressors if used with a taller rail such as that on a SIG SPEAR LT/MCX) In most instances, the HOT ROD will not fit in conjunction with suppressor covers. It is recommended to always re-confirm zero when switching a laser from the pic rail to the HOT ROD. There may be a very minor zero adjustment needed.
The HOT ROD comes with all mounting hardware needed, including thread locker. Do not exceed 25 inch/lbs when tightening the bolts. The supplied screws/bolts includes three bolts to mount to the rail, and 1 smaller screw if you want to mount the axon switch to the HOT ROD. This is done by simply by removing the rail mount on the switch and screwing directly to the HOT ROD via the top hole. We recommend using the included thread locker on all screws when installing.
The HOT ROD will also be available in an aluminum version, which is not duty rated. This is for training platforms such as Unit Solutions, or airsoft, hobbyists, etc..

***Disclaimer*** We strongly advise to only use the Hot Rod in conjunction with a suppressor/silencer. Exposing your laser aiming device to repetitive direct muzzle blast could cause damage to the laser. THYF will not be responsible for any damage to laser aiming devices. It is also recommended to not use the HOT ROD if you have extremely heavy firing schedules/shooting full auto as this can cause damage to the laser under extreme heat. As a general rule, if you are shooting at a normal rate of fire, it is good to go. If you are shooting to the point of causing your suppressor to get red hot by doing burn downs/repeated mag dumps, it is not recommended to use the HOT ROD.
Do not tighten screws over 25 inch/lbs. Use provided loctite when installing.
